CoronavirusFrom December 22: Libraries are closed to the public |
Authorized Users
Persons from the age of 16 can register.
A library card is required to borrow media.
Registration
Anyone wishing to use the services of the Main Library must register with SLSP. The registration is free of charge.
The step-by-step instruction (German only) will guide you through the registration process.
User Account
With the registration you will also receive a personal user account.
You can use your user account to:
- View your material on loan, orders, and charges
- Renew media
If you have forgotten your password, you can set a new one via SWITCH edu-ID. You can also change your password via the SWITCH edu-ID website.
Changes of address
You can make changes of address in your personal SWITCH edu-ID account.
Library Card
The following cards can be used as library cards:
- SLSP library cards
- UZH Card
- Student Card of the Careum Educational Center
- BibliOpass library cards
An SLSP library card is available from all libraries that are connected to the SLSP system. The library card is free of charge.
If you have lost your library card, delete the card number on the SLSP library card management web page. You can get a replacement library card at all SLSP libraries. The replacement card is free of charge. The card number of the new library card can also be entered on the SLSP website for managing your library card.
Lending Desk & Self-Service Point
Holders of a library card accepted in the SLSP system can take out borrowable material direct at the self checkout or information desk.
Loan Periods
General loan period | 28 days |
Maximum loan period | 6 x 28 days |
Renewals: automatic | 5 x 28 days |
Loan periods can also be renewed via user account. In general, renewals are only possible if no one else has reserved the material and the maximum loan period of 6 x 28 days has not yet been reached. If renewal is not possible, you must return the material.
Once the loan period has elapsed, the Main Library will send you a free reminder with the request to return the material.
Once the loan period has elapsed, the material is automatically deemed to be overdue, and the reminder process will be activated as per the Main Library Regulations (PDF, 126 KB) (German only). After a recall, the first reminder and subsequent reminders will be sent at intervals of least one week. The third reminder will be sent by registered mail. Non-deliverable recalls and reminders will not be accepted as justification for late returns.
