Funding by the Swiss National Science Foundation

In addition to the cantons or the confederation, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is the most important source of funding for scientific research in Switzerland. The SNSF has decided to implement Open Access for all SNSF-funded publications already as of 2020.

A renewed SNF Open Access policy has been in place since October 2018. For all journal articles, an embargo period of 6 months applies to the accepted manuscript. Book publications must be freely accessible after 12 instead of 24 months at the latest. The repository ZORA is available for this purpose at the UZH.
